Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to quote, supply and support your project:
- Contact and business details — your name, company, phone number, email address and delivery suburb or state.
- Project information — material, quantity, size, tolerances, finish, timeframe and any notes you provide.
- Files you upload — drawings, DXF, DWG, STEP, STP, STL, IGES, IGS, PDF and image files, and any specifications attached to your enquiry.
- Technical information — basic, limited technical data such as a one-way hashed record of the network address used to submit a form. This is used only to protect the website from spam and abuse, and cannot be used to identify you.
We do not collect payment card details through this website, and we do not knowingly collect sensitive information.
How we use your information
We use the information you provide to:
- review your requirement and prepare a quotation;
- contact you about your enquiry, order or delivery;
- arrange machining, finishing and freight for your parts;
- maintain records of quotations and supply for warranty and accounting purposes; and
- meet our legal, taxation and record-keeping obligations.
Drawings, CAD files and technical information
We understand that drawings and CAD files are commercially sensitive. Files you send us are treated as confidential and are handled as follows:
- Uploaded files are transmitted over an encrypted connection and stored in a private, access-controlled storage location. They are not published, listed or made publicly accessible.
- Files are used only to assess, quote and manufacture the parts you have enquired about. We do not use your drawings to produce parts for anyone else, and we do not sell, license or publish them.
- Internal download links to your files are time-limited and issued only to our quoting and production staff.
- A confidentiality agreement or NDA is available on request. If you require one, please ask before sending your files and we will arrange it.
Ownership of intellectual property in your designs
You retain all intellectual property rights in the drawings, designs, models and specifications you supply to us. Sending us a file does not transfer any ownership to us.
You confirm that you are entitled to provide those files to us for machining, and that doing so does not infringe another party's rights. We retain ownership of our own machining processes, tooling, fixtures, programs and know-how developed to produce your parts.
Who we share information with
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We disclose it only where necessary, and only to the extent required, to:
- Machining, finishing and material partners — where part of your job (for example galvanising, coating, heat treatment or specialist machining) is carried out by a trusted supplier, we share only the details required to complete that work.
- Freight and delivery providers — your name, delivery address and contact number, so your parts can be delivered.
- Business systems providers — reputable hosting, database, storage and email service providers that operate our website and communications under contractual confidentiality and security obligations.
- Other Dowd Group businesses — where your enquiry is better served by a related business in our supply network (for example HDPE.com.au or FencingSteel.com.au).
- Professional advisers and authorities — where required or authorised by law.
Some of our service providers may store data outside Australia. Where that occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Data security and retention
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure. These include encrypted transmission, private access-controlled file storage, restricted internal access and limited-life download links.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. While we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We retain enquiry records, quotations and associated files for as long as needed for the purpose they were collected and to meet our legal and accounting obligations, after which they are deleted or de-identified. You may ask us to delete your files earlier and we will do so where we are not required to keep them.
Marketing communications
We may occasionally contact existing and prospective customers about our products, materials and services. Any marketing message will identify us and include a simple way to opt out.
We do not send marketing communications to people who have not enquired with us, and we do not provide your details to third parties for their own marketing. To opt out at any time, reply to any message or email Hello@CNC-Parts.com.au.
Cookies and website analytics
This website uses only the limited technical data needed to operate reliably and securely. We do not use advertising-tracking cookies. Your browser can be set to refuse cookies, which may affect some website functions.
Accessing or correcting your information
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your uploaded files. Contact Hello@CNC-Parts.com.au and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
